Clear, Well-Written Guide to Playing the Blues
"Aimed at the early-intermediate to intermediate+ student of the blues on guitar, Dave Rubin's book appears to cover all the bases, in some 23+ chapters, from Slow to Swinging, Boogie Shuffles, Chicago-style, Minor, Jazzy and Bebop Blues, along with Turnarounds, Intros and Soloing. There is also an interesting chapter on the Origin of the 12-bar blues. The lessons are thorough yet succinct and clearly explained, and the accompanying CD is very helpful, especially in giving the regular-speed version along with a slowed-down version of each riff. All the music includes traditional as well as tablature notation schemes, with chords listed above the measures. (There's also a chapter at the end describing tab.) All in all, as a lover of blues and jazz and a student of guitar for more than five years, I would recommend this book highly for anyone wishing to gain a thorough grounding in the blues."

Wish I had this book back in the 70's.

Great for Rhythm/Comping
"This is an excellent guide to the 12-bar blues, giving explanations of the different styles and some nice alternatives/substitues for you standard chords. Notation gives complete songs, full 12 bars of blues, some more difficult than others. Regardless, just play the parts of the chords you can reach (esp. if you are playing rhythm guitar)."
